About Rachel's Personal ME/CFS Info website

Rachel's Personal ME/CFS Info site is created in order to share information about ME/CFS. This is not intended to give comprehensive information about ME/CFS. Instead, this is a starting point of understanding ME/CFS.

I named it "personal" because it is based on my personal experiences and my personal choice of information to list. I don't want to represent my case is "the" ME/CFS. ME/CFS is a complicated condition in many aspects. People have different set of symptoms. Therefore, I don't wish to mislead general public and cause person with ME/CFS (pwME/CFS) unnecessary stigma just because the pwME/CFS is not severe, has different symptoms, take/don't take different medicines, or too young/old...

I hope the website will also increase awareness of ME/CFS and understandings of the needs for biomedical researches into ME/CFS in order to find cause(s), effective treatments, and cure. I also hope that this website will provide the opportunity to network with like-minded people with or without ME/CFS. I live in South East Queensland, Australia.

This site is mainly a collection of link to useful information. In the page, you will notice links in different colour or with underline. Please simply click it to find more information.

This site will be gradually updated. So, please come back to check additional and/or updated info every now and then.

If you wish to contact me, please use the contact form at Contact page.

My View on ME/CFS

Since there are different views on ME/CFS, I would like to state how I define ME/CFS in this website.

ME/CFS is a preferred name by patients and their support organisations worldwide, and is also known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). In the US, it is also called CFIDS or Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome.

I see ME/CFS as an umbrella category as it is a diagnosis of exclusion, not a direct diagnosis. Therefore, it is possible that rare and unidentified medical conditions are also diagnosed with ME/CFS.
